6th graders should be reading a MINIMUM of 20 minutes per night. This is a daily expectation. In middle school, we do not keep reading logs or have other methods of checking this homework, however, we will often have other homework that is a "reading response" to what your child is reading at home. Please help your child be successful by frequently asking what he or she is reading, and requiring a quiet period of time during which he or she is reading a choice book or magazine. For example, you might require your child set a timer and read 20 minutes each night before bed.
