Now that students are finished with their infographics (information is here), it's time to present their hard work to the class! Presentations will begin Tuesday, March 31. See the rubric for this speech/presentation here.

Directions:
  • Speech needs to be 1-3 minutes, but no more than three minutes about topic
  • Your speech must contain notecards/notes of talking points to avoid rambling or straight reading from your display
  • Infographic can be shown under document camera or an additional visual display can be made to enhance speech

Infographic Project

Infographics are a visual image used to represent data. It should be used to simplify information and to keep the reader's attention while still teaching new information. Here is an infographic about infographics!

Students will be creating their own infographic about a topic of their choice. The only rule is that it must be a topic they have limited information about: this ensures that they are truly learning something new, and that they are "looking beyond themselves."

We will work on infographics in class all week (March 16-20). Students will have access to the library and computers for research during the first part of the week. Completed infographics are due Friday, March 20. No exceptions. We will begin presenting our infographics to the class when we return from Spring Break.

WHAT NOT TO DO:
Do not plagiarize an infographic. You may not find an infographic and copy the information as your own. This includes copying the design of the infographic or copying the information and putting it into another design. Example plagiarized infographic and original source.

CMAS Testing

Tomorrow begins our mandatory state testing, this year known interchangeably as CMAS or PARCC. Please read here (PARCC.com)  or here (Colorado Department of Education) for more information on this test.

Students will be taking the test on the following days for the indicated amount of time. They will then have regular core and elective classes (although not every core class every day).

Tuesday 3/3 (75 minutes)
Thursday 3/5 (90 minutes)
Monday 3/9 (60 minutes)
Tuesday 3/10 (80 minutes)
Thursday 3/12 (70 minutes)

Please be sure your child gets to bed at a decent time, has a good breakfast, brings earbuds/headphones, and leaves their phone OFF and in their lockers during testing. Encourage them to do their best, and that their best IS good enough! Do not stress about the test! They are well prepared, as long as they try hard and focus.
