Argumentative Essay

This week, students are writing and researching their own argumentative essay. This essay will close out the unit and be the final graded piece of learning evidence for Unit 3.

Students have had the following goals and deadlines in class. If working during class, students should have had no trouble keeping up with these deadlines and will not have to work at home. However, students who have not used their class time wisely may be behind.

Tuesday, January 10: Students choose their topic and create their argument statement.
Wednesday, January 11: Students write their three claims and begin research.
Thursday, January 12: Students complete their research.
Friday, January 13: Students write the first half of their five paragraph essay.
Tuesday, January 17: Students write the second half of their five paragraph essay.
Wednesday, January 18: Students peer edit and make final revisions.
