Speech Project: What's Your Story?

Today, we began our last large project of the year. Students will choose a topic that they are passionate about a craft a speech to present to their classmates. This is no ordinary speech - they have the choice of six different ways of presenting it! We decided to give these options to accommodate all of the diverse learning styles we have in class.

The requirements of the speech are as follows. Students can choose any topic, as long as they can connect it to our overarching concept of adaptation.

  • Topic must address our overarching concept of adaptation
  • Researched information must include credible sources
  • Presentation must make sense and be organized
  • Include visual aids to clarify ideas
  • Appropriate eye contact, clear pronunciation, and good volume
  • Between 2-5 minutes long
  • Completed and turned in by Monday 5/8
  • Presentations will be Tuesday 5/9 through Thursday 5/11

The six ways students can present these speeches are:

  1. Pre-recorded Speech (at home or at school)
  2. Song/Rap
  3. Poetry
  4. Podcast
  5. Argument
  6. In-Person Speech ("old school")
